Scholarship Donation

Education is a major part of charitable giving in the U.S., with many donors choosing to allocate their gifts towards scholarships and financial aid, acknowledging the profound influence education has on individual lives and society. At NEVE, we channel these contributions specifically to support first-generation college students in STEM, providing them with the necessary resources to thrive academically and professionally.

What Does Your Gift Support?

Donations to the NEVE Scholarship Fund helps enhance a student’s ability to cover critical costs associated with their education:

  • Tuition and Fees: Direct assistance with the costs of attending college.
  • Room and Board: Support for living expenses ensures students can focus on their studies without the stress of financial burdens.
  • Books and Supplies: Scholarships can cover the high costs of textbooks and necessary technological equipment for STEM students.
  • Enrichment Opportunities: Contributions can also support internships, study abroad programs, and other enriching experiences that are often out of reach for financially strapped students.

What Does It Cost to Attend a College STEM Program?

Understanding the financial investment required for a college education, especially in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields, is crucial for students and their families. Below, we break down the typical costs associated with attending a STEM program at a higher education institution, with special consideration for the challenges faced by low-income students.

Tuition and Fees

Tuition is the primary expense for any college program. STEM programs often have higher tuition rates due to the advanced technology and equipment needed for these courses. For the 2023-2024 academic year, the average annual tuition and fees might look something like this:

  • Public Colleges (In-State): Approximately $10,000 to $15,000
  • Public Colleges (Out-of-State): Approximately $25,000 to $40,000
  • Private Colleges: Approximately $35,000 to $60,000

These costs can vary significantly based on the prestige of the institution and its geographical location.

Given the reliance on technology in STEM fields, students often need to invest in high-performance computers and software. This can cost anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000, which may need to be updated or replaced throughout their college career.

Making a Lasting Impact

Supporting the NEVE Scholarship Fund not only transforms the lives of individual students but also contributes to a larger movement towards a more equitable and innovative future in STEM fields.
