NEVE Mentor Program
NEVE is committed to providing mentorship programs (virtual and in person) to all NEVE scholarship recipients to further enrich their academic and professional careers.
Mentor’s roles and responsibilities
Mentor to provide support in the following areas:
- Share Information about his or her own academic and career path.
- Provide guidance, motivation, emotional and academic support, and role modeling.
- Help with exploring STEM academic paths and career opportunities, setting goals, developing contacts, and identifying resources.
- Updating progress I the NEVE portal.
- In addition to serving as their role model, advisor, and ally, the Mentor will provide the NEVE scholars with tools to achieve their academic and professional STEM goals.
How it Works
- The Mentor(s) to provide in person and virtual interactions with the NEVE Scholars.
- In person once per semester for a working weekend at a college campus TBD to include all NEVE scholars to explore and share experiences, develop relationships and and create new STEM studying strategies.
- The Mentor(s) will provide Virtual mentoring each month and maintain / update progress on pre-set criteria with the Mentee.
The NEVE mentor-mentee relationship must be built upon certain factors including: Trust and respect, open and honest communications, flexibility and understanding of other perspectives including race, religion, national origin and sexual identity.
